It is with great sadness that we share the news that one of our students, Katherine N. Ambrusko, died in an automobile accident on Monday, April 6th, 2009.
Kate, who was a first grade student at The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park, was a wonderful student and will be missed by her teachers, her classmates and the school staff.
The accident also took the life of her brother, Peter, who was slated to be part of our Kindergarten class for the 2009-2010 school year.
The Kate and Peter Ambrusko Memorial Fund has been established by the family to benefit the school. Memorials may be made to The Kate and Peter Ambrusko Memorial Fund and sent to The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park, 829 Milton Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 and marked to the attention of Mr. Jon McCann, Principal.
Jon McCann has been in contact with Grief Counselors and representation will be in the school on Monday to help the students and staff deal with the sudden death of their classmate and student.
On behalf of the School Staff and the Board of Trustees, we extend our deepest sympathy to the parents, Amy and Steven, and to their extended family as they deal with this tragic accident.
